Commissioning Fund Application Form

If you are looking for financial support for a project about making music with and for young people aged 0 – 19, the Music Hub may be able to help. We maintain a Commissioning Fund, which makes grants to schools and other providers, for projects that meet our eligibility criteria. Examples of projects that we have funded in the past include the Archbishop Holgate MAT Orchestra, Shepherd Group Youth Band, the YPA Jazz Summer School, Songwires, and the Big Sing.

Further details of the eligibility criteria are provided in the guidance for applicants. We are
keen to support initiatives that meet our strategic aims which are:

  • to increase the number of schools engaged with the Hub,
  • to increase the number of children and young people playing in ensembles or singing in choirs,
  • to improve ‘access’ to opportunities for making and enjoying music to an increasing number of children and young people living in challenging circumstances,
  • to enhance the quality of youth music provision in the city.

We think that is pretty comprehensive, but if your idea doesn’t seem to be covered or you want to talk through the possibilities please email us on admin@yorkmusichub.org.uk

We have tried to make it as simple as possible to apply for a grant. All you need to do is to download the application form and associated guidance, complete the form and return it to the Hub, either on line, or by post. Don’t forget to include a fully itemised budget for the project. We may be in touch to ask for further details, but, if not, you will receive a reply within 2 to 3 weeks letting you know whether your application has been successful. If you are one of the lucky ones, you will be required to sign a contract.

You should be aware that funds are limited and that if we are not able to provide support, it
may be because we have already allocated all the money available in any particular financial
year. Don’t assume that it is because we didn’t like your proposal!

Please download and read the Funding Guidelines before applying.
