Supporting Schools

Please see below details of how York Music Hub can support your school in 2024/25:

Learning Lead Support

We offer free, 2 x one-hour curriculum review / support meetings to all schools.  Further support may be charged to the school, but is at the Music Hub’s discretion.  We aim to ensure your children receive the best musical education and opportunities, whether its curriculum development, lesson planning or Ofsted Deep-Dive ready, please email schools.outreach@yorkmusichub.org.uk

Whole Class Ensemble Teaching (WCET)

We continue to part fund WCET (Whole Class Ensemble Teaching) or small group teaching.  For the 2024-25 academic year. YMH will subsidise the cost of provision by 40% up to 33 weeks with the following limits:

  • 1 hour a week for 1 form entry schools

  • 1.5 hours a week for 1.5 form entry schools

  • 2 hours a week for 2 form entry schools

If you are looking for provision or those receiving WCET for the first time, YMH can help. The current options are:

o   33-week block £1140 (Provided in partnership with York Music Education)

o   Up-to 39-week block £1168 (Provided in partnership with North Yorkshire Music Hub)

Both options include free instrumental hire and the prices above include subsidy from York Music Hub.

Self Delivery & Instrument Hire

If schools choose to self-deliver WCET and require the hire of instruments, the cost of hire of instruments will be paid for by York Music Hub, but an administration charge of £50 per term will be paid by the school.

  • If booking WCET for one or two terms only, please contact the Hub for cost.

  • The music teacher will plan lessons, liaise with school staff over delivery and report on pupil progress.  For instrumental ensemble teaching, a school-based member of staff needs to be present, delivered during school time.

  • We cannot guarantee cover for lessons where a member of our staff is absent at short notice.

  • If booking in terms 2 or 3 only, we cannot guarantee your preferred teaching day / time as teachers timetables get full in term 1, cost of this will be adapted accordingly.
