Join the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment for a performance of The Fairy Queen. Composer James Redwood and writer Hazel Gould weave their creative magic, seamlessly blending the story of Shakespeare and the music of Henry Purcell’s 1692 opera into a magical new adventure for the whole family. Our reimagining is about wishes that come true, and what happens when they do, as we learn about friendship, love and telling the truth…

York Schools Choral Festival is back…bigger and bolder than ever before. Over the
past 13 years, the festival has grown from strength to strength, so it is no surprise
that the dedication and commitment from founders Molly Newton and Buffy
Breakwell has paved the way for a longer festival this year, going from two days in
previous years to four days in 2025. We’re forever grateful for Molly and Buffy’s
insight, imagination and musicianship as we head towards what promises to be
another successful Choral Festival with some 800 children expected to create life-
long memories.
Each day starts with a whole festival warm up which moves quickly into workshops
for each school and guided rehearsals from professional musicians. An afternoon
performance then showcases each school’s achievements with a prepared piece
and ends with a combined choir performance to parents and carers of these amazing
children.
School applications have now been processed and booking is closed for this year,
but please contact us if you would like to hear about future festivals.
