Whole Class Ensemble Teaching (WCET)
Whole Class Ensemble Teaching (WCET) gives every pupil in a class the experience of learning a musical instrument, through weekly whole class instrumental lessons which are delivered as part of the school's music curriculum.
Schools in York can apply to the Hub for financial support towards the cost of a specialist visiting to teach these lessons. This support is intended to subsidise up to 50% of the costs of WCET provision for one year group, up to 36 weeks per year. Schools can complete the application form at the link below to apply for funding for next academic year (September 2023 to July 2024).
Schools who have staff with the skills to deliver these lessons themselves can use the same application form to apply to the Hub for financial support towards the cost of instrument hire.
Contact us if you do not already have an arrangement in place with a WCET provider, and we can help you find the right provision for your school.
Schools in York can apply to York Music Hub for support with instrument hire, whether the instruments are for Whole Class Ensemble Teaching (WCET) or for other regular music activitites in school such as ensembles. Click the 'Apply online' button above for support with WCET instruments, or e-mail us directly if you have other plans for the instruments you wish to hire, on firstname.lastname@example.org.
School Music Development Plan
The National Plan for Music Education recommends that all schools have a School Music Development Plan in place, which demonstrates the school's commitment to the development of music in school, and captures the curriculuar and co-curricular offer to their pupils.
